Hello
Pretty new to this product (actually giving it a try as it seems promising and might actually consider in house use).
Anyway I am trying to install on a generic clean XP SP3 machine and I get this error message:
Installation ended prematurely because of an error
This a a brand new (bare metal) XP SP3 machine, all MS patches installed, no other software so far (as the plan would be to manage them using SWV...). No anti virus. Pretty basic stuff... No entry in event logs - can't see to locate a relevant log either.
I have cleaned temp directories. I have made sure that short name creation is on (which is the case by default). I am trying to install Symantec_Workspace_Virtualization_6.1_SP8_MP2_6.4 which is what I managed to get from Symantec web site, although I seem to understand that it is not the most recent version (I gather it should still install on XP... although Symantec seem to make it hard to get the latest versions...).
I have tried to monitor the install process using ProcMon but nothing major stands out - for some reason it tries to create / write into an autoexec.bat
00:16:44.4584151 msiexec.exe 3760 CreateFile \\mynewpc\C$\autoexec.bat NAME NOT FOUND Desired Access: Read Attributes, Disposition: Open, Options: Open Reparse Point, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write, Delete, AllocationSize: n/a, Impersonating: MYNEWPC\alex
(?!)
Maybe more relevant it tries this
00:16:44.8900786 MsiExec.exe 1368 QueryOpen C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\SE\VC_RED_1033_x86_net_9_0\worker.dll PATH NOT FOUND
Missing some VCC DLL ?
Well any advice / suggestion most welcome !
