Before the Symantec Installation Manager was renamed, it was called the Altiris Installation Manager, AIM. It is clear what the "skipaim" switch performed. It allowed the running of an Altiris MSI outside of the Altiris Installation Manager. Altiris was purchased by Symantec in 2007. Now that customers are seeing this suite of products as being Symantec, shouldn't the switch be changed to reflect what it is really doing? It is no longer skipping the AIM, it is skipping the SIM. As such, the switch should be changed to "skipsim" FROM "skipaim".
When creating the MSI's for each of the installers perhaps include the alternate "skipsim" for a transition period? Or change it altogether in the next release. This could easily be communicated within the release notes.
This is being suggested to show better attention to detail on Symantec's part to unify it's acquisition of Altiris.
