SEP upgrade 11.0.4.010.19 to version 12.1 RU1 - 12.1.1000.157

Hello,

I have a client with ~100 SEP clients currently running SEP 11.0.4.010.19 (mr4 MP1). I need to upgrade them to the vendor supported version 12.1 RU1 - 12.1.1000.157

I'm looking at supported upgrade paths and found this Symantec document which states  11.0.4010.19 (MR4 MP1) 12.1.671.4971 (RTM) or higher is supported

Is a direct upgrade of the clients (windows xp and windows 7, server 2003 and server 2008) to the lower version of 12.1 RU1 - 12.1.1000.157 supported?
