Good afternoon all!
I'm fairly new to this part of Altiris/Ghost. We are trying to create an image for a new model of laptop we purchased. It's an HP Elitebook 840. Our previous model was an Elitebook 8460/8470 and we imaged using WinPE 2.0. We are using CMS 7.1 at the moment and will be moving to 7.5 in the not too distant future.
Anyway, we purchased a few new laptops to prepare for some new hires we have joining us. We tried to image these machines but were having issues with booting them to PXE and having Ghost see the machines, (kept "restarting DHCP client" over and over). We got that issue resolved, (also moved up to WinPE 4.0) and last week we snapped an image, (or so we thought), but it was about 40+GB in size and took several hours.
Today, as a test, I pushed that image to one of the new HP 840 laptops and upon completion we started getting a message that essentially told us a device, (the hard drive), was not accessible. We also have the "Deploy Anywhere" script run after the image is completed but not sure if that could be the problem? We used that same script with our previous model laptops and it ran fine, (with a different image). We created a new "Create Image" job and as I sit here it still has over 2 hours until completion. Is this normal in order to snap an image? Aside from the OS, (Win7 Pro 64bit), we have MS Office 2010, and then a handful of other applications but nothing extremely large.
I apologize if I have left any pertinent details in my post. I will try to clarify if anyone has any questions.
Thanks!
