I have developed a basic VSS Writer to support backing up of our application (an integrated accounting system) which uses our own bespoke database solution rather than a standard database solution such as SQL or Oracle. That VSS Writer works fine with other backup solutions we employ (e.g. Windows Server Backup) but not Backup Exec (it also works fine with Backup Exec System Recovery).
I have been working with your support staff under case 03631527 to establish the reason why - they tell me that Backup Exec only supports VSS Writers from an internal and unpublished 'white list'. Even the test writer included in the Microsoft SDK is not on that white list, so tests of the VSS infrastructure using that Writer fail (it is not scheduled to process OnPrepareBackup/OnFreeze/OnThaw events).
Can you please let me know how developers can get new VSS Writers onto that white list.
